India beat Australia by 99 runs in the rain-interrupted second ODI to take an 2-0 lead in the three-match series on Sunday. Batting first, India amassed 399 with centuries from Shubman Gill and Shreyas Ayer after being asked to bat first.Both Suryakumar Yadav and KL Rahul added fifties, resulting in India’s highest ODI total against Australia. India hammered 18 sixes to become the first team to hit 3000 sixes in ODI format.
The Australian team suffered early breakthroughs with the dismissals of Matthew Short and Steven Smith, making the run chase difficult. Rain delayed the match for the second time resulting a revised target of 317 runs in 33 overs. Both Ashwin and Jadeja took 3 wickets making the chase difficult for Australia.
