The Quad group is an informal strategic dialogue to group that shares the objective to ensure and sustain an open,free and prosperous Indo-Pacific region. The Quad group includes four countries namely India,USA,Japan,Australia. The idea for the Quad group was conceptualized by the former Japan PM Shinzo Abe. This group was also conceptualized to counter the growing economic and military power of China in Indo-Pacific.

“India To Make Vaccines For Indo-Pacific”:PM Modi

As the world is struggling against the Covid-19 virus,the topic of discussion at the summit was regarding the vaccination for the virus.The group decided to launch a mega vaccination initiative where all the PM’s of the participating countries showed their support.The vaccines will be produced in India with financial support from USA and Japan.

“We are united by our democratic values, and our commitment to a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific. Our agenda today – covering areas like vaccines, climate change and emerging technologies – makes the Quad a force for global good,” said the Prime Minister.

President Biden addressed the opening and said” We know our commitments…Our region is governed by international law, committed to all the universal values and free from coercion but I am optimistic about our prospect,” in an apparent reference to China.

“India Becoming A Negative Asset For BRICS and SCO”:Global Times

With India growing closer to Quad and showing Anti-China stance the Chinese newspaper Global Times reported that India is becoming a negative asset for BRICS and SCO and is taking China for granted.
