Xiaomi has launched its new affordable smartphone Redmi 10 prime in India on Friday. The smartphone was launched during an online event alongside company’s new TWS Redmi Earbuds 3 Pro. The Redmi 10 Prime site below the Redmi Note 10 and democratizes features such as 90Hz display and 6000mAh battery. This is the first smartphone to lunch with a MediaTek Helio G88 chipset in India.

The smartphone has been launched in the country in two RAM configurations and the price starts at Rs 12,499. The Redmi 10 Prime is a rebranded variant of the Redmi 10 which was recently launched in global markets. However, the Indian variant of the phone packs a bigger 6000mAh battery against the 5000mAh battery on the global variant.

Redmi 10 Prime price in India and offers

The Redmi 10 Prime price in India starts at Rs 12,499 for the base variant which comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant. The internal storage on this variant can be expanded to 1TB using a microSd card. The 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant of the phone costs Rs 14,499. The storage on this model can be expanded to 2TB. The customers can get a discount of Rs 750 using HDFC Bank credit cards and EMI. The phone will go on sale starting September 7 from Mi.com, Amazon India and offline retailers.

Redmi 10 Prime features and specifications

The Redmi 10 Prime features a polycarbonate rear panel and weighs 192 grams. The smartphone comes with a 6.5-inch Full HD+display which supports 90Hz refresh rate. This is an adaptive display which means that the screen can switch to different refresh rates depending on what is playing on it. The phone is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

The Redmi 10 Prime is powered by mediaTek Helio G88 SoC. You can choose from up to 6GB RAM while the storage can be expanded to up to 2TB. Xiaomi has used a dual speaker setup for audio. The smartphone runs MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11. The software is now cleaner than previous versions of MIUI.

Redmi 10 Prime packs a 6000mAh battery and supports 18W fast charging. However, Xiaomi is shipping the phone with a 22.5W fast charger. The device also supports 9W reverse wired charging.
