Well after a full week of busy schedule we finally hit the weekend, get a chance to hold up popcorn bucket, sometimes with friends or alone in front of our lovely tv. But scrolling around the same genre feels annoying. Thinking about trying something else, whether admit it or not, messing up with our mind is the best form of entertainment. And Psychological Thrillers are the perfect chill pill.

Here is a list of possibly the best Psychological Thriller movies you should first put your hands on.

1. Get Out (2017)

Get Out follows Chris Washington, a young African-American man, while on a weekend trip with his white girlfriend, Rose Armitage, uncovers a disturbing secret when he meets her family and finds himself in strange situations.

2. Us (2019)

Adelaide‘s worst fears become a reality when her family was attacked by four strangers. The things go even creepier as each attacker resembles one of their family members.

3. Gone Girl (2014)

Directed by David Fincher, the story follows the events surrounding Nick Dunne, a former writer who became the lead suspect in the mysterious disappearance of his wife. His life takes a serious twist when the entire media’s focus shifts on him and blames him for the murder of his wife.

4. The Lodge (2019)

Stepmother, Grace, left alone with her fiance’s two children in a remote winter cabin. Trapped and isolated in between the snowstorm terrifying incidents take place from Grace’s dark past.

5. Silence of The Lamb (1991)

The film adaptation of Thomas Harris’s novel of the same name describes the story of a FBI trainee, Clarice Starling, who is in pursuit of a serial killer named Buffalo Bill. In order to get closer to the murderer, she interviews another psychopath, Dr. Hannibal Lecter, serving life in prison for numerous murders and cannibalism.

6. Black Swan (2010)

Passionate ballerina, Nina win the lead role as “White Swan” in Swan Lake. But faces competition from newcomer Lily who represents the “Black Swan” of the show. The friendship and rivalry between the two dancers take twisted turns and Nina’s dark side begins to emerge.

7. Joker (2019)

Set in 1981, Arthur Fleck, a failed comedian struggles to bring positivity in the increasingly dark and crime intense Gotham City. Isolated, bullied, and mistreated by society, Arthur slowly becomes mentally unstable and emerges as the psycho criminal mastermind known as Joker.

8. Shutter Island (2010)

U.S Marshal, Teddy Daniels, with his partner Chuck Aule, assigned to Ashecliffe Hospital for a disappeared patient Rachel Solando. The woman who vanished from a locked room, with only a single clue “who is 67?”, a cryptic note. As the investigation deepens, Teddy realizes he will have to face his own dark deeds if he wants to make it off the island alive.

9. The Lighthouse (2019)

On a remote island, Ephraim Winslow agrees to work as a lighthouse keeper under the supervision of Thomas Wake. He observes the strange behavior of Wake. But as the days pass he begins to hallucinate, haunted by strange and mysterious visions.

10. Midsommer (2019)

Ari Aster’s horror/psychological-thriller movie, Midsommer, describes the story of a group of friends who travel to Sweden for the fabled mid-summer festival. Things start peaceful but take horrific turns as the days pass by.

11. Memento (2000)

This classic Christopher Nolan’s psychological thriller deals with the story of Leonard Shelby, (a man suffering from short-term memory loss) who searches for the killers of his wife. He struggles in locating his wife’s killer. Although he can recall details but forgets what happened fifteen minutes ago. Who is he? What he wants to do and why?

12. The Machinist (2004)

Industrial worker, Trevor Reznik suffers from insomnia and has not slept for months. Dramatic incidents take place in his life after he unintentionally injures a coworker at his job. He descends further into paranoia and blames Ivan, a mysterious person, for his condition.
