The Minister Of State of Education said the traditional knowledge of India is both sustainable and strives for the welfare of all mentioned in The National Education Policy (NEP) 2022 Para 4.27.
Shreemad Bhagavad Geeta’s references will be included in Class VI and VII and Shlokes in Sanskrit textbooks of classes XI and XII, the LOK SABHA was informed.
She also informed us that the ministry had established the Indian Education System (IKS) Division in AICTE in 2022 with a vision to promote interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research on all aspects.
A Parliamentary panel also wanted NCERT to include ” unsung freedom fighters” from all parts of our country. Also, it was recommended that prominent Indian female characters from different sectors be remembered for NCERT’s textbooks.
“To become the knowledge power in this century, we must understand our heritage and teach the world the ‘Indian way’ of doing things.” she added
Shreemad Bhagavad Geeta is not a religious text. It should be added in school to give moral values to children.
